Doctor charged in the 1916 abortion death of Emily Projahn in Chicago.

Mercereau was born in 1856. He studied at Bennett Medical College in Chicago, and graduated from the Eclectic College of Medicine and Surgery in 1878. He was licensed in Illinois that year, and in Washington in 1890. He set up his Chicago practice on November 7, 1913.

He died in Chicago on August 16, 1928 of septicemia and cancer of the nose.
